If you have lost your Aadhaar Card, you need not re-apply for it again as you can now download it online by using your enrollment ID (EID) or Aadhaar number (UID). In this article, we will discuss the various methods for downloading E-Aadhaar Card.
There are basically two methods to download Aadhaar Card online.
- By enrollment Number or Aadhaar Number
- By Mobile number
Download Aadhaar card by enrollment Number/ID or Aadhaar number
enrolllment Number (EID) is a unique number available in the acknowledge slip you received when you applied for Aadhaar Card. Aadhaar number is a unique 12-digit ID number assigned separately to each Aadhaar Card holder. If you’ve got your EID or UID, you can download your Aadhaar Card online by following the steps below.
Step 1: If this is the first time you are downloading Aadhaar card, make sure to check Aadhaar status first to see if it is generated or not.
Step 2: Visit UIDAI website uidai.gov.in and click on “Download Aadhaar” link from the options.
Step 3: On the next page, enter your enrollment ID or Aadhaar Number in the first field. Enter your name, Pin code and other details, and click on “Get One Time Password” button.
Note: You must have a registered phone number with UIDAI to receive the OTP.
Step 4: Enter the OTP received on your mobile in the next column and click on “Validate and Download” button.
If your details are correct, you will be able to download your Aadhaar Card on the next page. The file is in pdf format, so you will need a pdf reader like Adobe Reader to open the file. Use your Pin code as the password to open your E-Aadhaar card pdf file.
An E-Aadhaar card works same as a physical card and has the same value. You can use it anywhere you need.
Download Aadhaar card by Phone Number
If you do not have an EID/UID or have lost it, you can use your UIDAI registered phone number to download E-Aadhaar Card. Here is how:

Step 2: On the next page, choose whether you want to retrieve your Aadhaar number (UID) or enrollment number (EID) and then, enter your details including your Full Name, Email or Mobile number, etc. Click on “Send One Time Password” button to receive OTP on your mobile.
Step 3: Enter that OTP to retrieve your EID or UID. Now, follow the steps from the first method to download E-Aadhaar using enrollment number or Aadhaar number.
